Selling my beautiful, excellently maintained 2012 Cobalt 242. I'm the second owner and it has always been in fresh water with both owners. 2012 Cobalt trailer included. The boat has just under 260 hours. Everything works and functions perfectly. Selling as my kids are older and off to school and I'm going to try to get into something a little different.
This boat is ready to hit the water and the trailer is solid and ready for your road trip! Listing it here and one other Cobalt group before going to other outlets as I hope a Cobalt enthusiast can get it.
So much info.
New boat stuff:
- New custom canvas including bimini at the end of the 2024 season.
- New bellows and gimbal bearing at the end of the 2024 season.
- New complete outdrive (upper and lower) during the 2023 season.
- New Volvo Penta 8.1 Gi upgrade in 2019
- Always professionally winterized and de-winterized by Great Lakes Marine including shrink wrapping.
New trailer stuff:
- New bearings all the way around beginning of 2025 season
- New brakes including controller beginning of 2025 season
- New brake and DOT lights beginning of 2025 season

Boat condition
- A few minor scuffs on hull. Nothing that shows up in pictures as you can see.
- Steering wheel patch is peeling off (seems to be common for these year models)
- Minor crack on dashboard plastic panel. I'm sure this can be replaced if needed. Does not affect function of gauges or boat at all. Not detectable in pictures.
- All snaps on carpets and canvas functioning
- I have all maintenance paperwork for both the boat and trailer
Prefer cash or certified funds. No lien on trailer or boat. Will provide title for trailer and bill of sale for boat (no boat titles in Colorado) once funds have cleared.
Can provide sea trial at Chatfield reservoir for serious buyers with funds in hand.
Can deliver boat within a couple hundred miles if needed and negotiated.
The 242 is all about access - the wide bow walkthrough doors, the laddered swim platform, and deep, wide, right-there storage -- with every square inch maximized for all-day use, as in the bow with its optional dinette table. Remember too that practicality - adjustable backrests, insulated ice chests, removable ski pylons, cylinder-assist lifting, and chair pockets - deserve its own perhaps more restrained outbursts of affection.
